Set Up Shopping on Instagram with These 4 Steps

The evolution of Instagram was quite impressive. When it started off as a simple photo-sharing platform, it never expected such a strong adoption among brands. Today, it has become possibly the largest catalog of products and services in the world.

With over a billion monthly active users as of 2019[1], Instagram is primed to become a massive shopping platform.

Just last week, Instagram released an initial white paper explaining the details of their upcoming digital currency, Libra[2]. When active, Libra plans to be the default medium for all transactions within Facebook’s family of apps.

How to Get Your IG stories into the Explore Tab

If you are a brand playing a strong game on Instagram, you will want to continue reading this article.

The Explore tab on Instagram is every user’s glimpse at the open world of content by people we haven’t yet Followed. Over the years, this section of the app has improved to include IGTV and Shop content as well.

Up until recently, Stories was the last piece of the Explore puzzle which the company says will be rolling to all in the coming months.

Ever since it was introduced a couple years back, Stories has been steadily outgrowing the views of Posts and IGTV combined[1]. Perhaps it’s due to the ‘temporariness’ that encourages people to be candid and casual with their content. Or perhaps it’s the absence of Likes that get people to really appreciate the content.

Social Media Predictions for 2019

2018 has been an incredibly wild ride for Social Media. First, Facebook announced that they would start deranking the visibility of Pages in order to bring back more ‘meaningful interactions’ among users.

Then, Facebook itself got caught in possibly the greatest scandal to ever hit a social media company. And to try and drown all the negative news, it went on to release a long list of features and services throughout the entire year which further complicated the mechanics of the game.

What this taught us as brands relying on Social Media as source of business and branding, is just how unreliable they can be. But however scary they may seem, we cannot deny that all of the world’s attention revolves in their sites.  Continue reading “Social Media Predictions for 2019”

8 Incredible Ways to Use Instagram Highlights For Your Brand

Instagram, at its conception, was meant to be a clutter-free alternative to Facebook. It was very good at doing one job, and didn’t need to impress anyone else with fancy glitter and half-baked functions.

But since the introduction of Stories, Instagram was able to again ride a new wave of expanded usage. The simple idea of impermanence seemed to have created so many positive effects among creators and users, most importantly in bringing the term ‘Social’ back to social media.

Brands have been seeing their content views and engagement thrive again in Stories, creating a stickiness that was lost so long ago in Posts. As users begin moving most of their attention away from the mess and clutter scattered across Facebook, there is an inherit pressure for Instagram to be more than it is but also not too much that it becomes another Facebook. 10 Major Features on Instagram in 2018 In Case Facebook Falls

In my last article, I talked about Facebook’s massive downward spiral since early 2018. In an attempt to salvage the damage done, Facebook introduced a few contingencies. One of the few plans to survive this massive loss of confidence among users and investors was to pay more attention to Instagram as their salvation.

In April 2012 Facebook acquired Instagram for US$ 1 billion, the largest purchase they have ever made at the time. This brought Facebook into the mobile market, something they have been struggled with by themselves.

Ever since then, Instagram has mostly been left alone to grow by itself. In fact very little effort was put to monetize the platform, compared to the scale applied onto Facebook itself. But lately, all this changed. Since early this year, an unusually high number of new features have been introduced onto the platform.
